West London Sands is available to support anyone that has been affected by the death of a baby, this extends to grandparents, aunties, uncles, any family member or friends. The loss could be recent or long ago.
Our support is irrespective of colour, religion or sexuality.

How can we help?
Our primary means of support at West London Sands is through ‘befriending’, one-on-one conversation, often telephone based, organised around suitable times for the bereaved. The befriending sessions, can often supply much needed empathy at the times of greatest need, later this can lead to joining a ‘Support group meeting’. Support groups meet regularly, and are designed to be an environment that encourages communication, discussion and understanding between those of us affected by the terrible loss of a baby.
Befriending
West London Sands has a handful of parents that have been trained to befriend other bereaved parents.
Befriender’s are parents that have also experienced the loss of a baby so they have an understanding of what you are going through. A befriender can make contact with you via email, telephone, home visit, or meet up in a neutral place. All befrienders are volunteers; no payment is made to them. They are not counsellors, they are trained to offer care and support, to be non-judgemental and listen without prejudice.

Support group
West London Sands support groups consist primarily of evening groups which are run on the last Thursday of every month, and daytime meetings on the second Friday of every month. The venue for the meetings are offered freely by bereaved parents who open their doors to us.
